EUROPA / PLUME SALINITY ANALYSIS

Preliminary plume models suggest Europa's vented material contains a salinity profile consistent with long-term subsurface ocean circulation.

Summary

AEON cryosphere analysts combined plume simulations, archival radiation exposure models, and drone deployment assumptions from Europa Recon to estimate the most probable salinity bands within sampled ejecta.

Instrument Notes

These values are model-derived rather than directly sampled. The report exists to tune onboard software before arrival and to narrow the set of autonomous chemistry routines used during first-contact plume passes.

Agency Implication

If confirmed in-flight, the salinity bands would support the case for active material exchange between Europa’s ocean and its fractured outer shell, improving the odds that future sampling missions reach chemically informative targets.
